Medical Information
If students become sick at school or have an accident, parents will be contacted as soon as possible. An ambulance will be called in case of an emergency.
Parents are asked to supply details of an emergency contact person who can care for a child in case of an illness, accident or injury when parents cannot be contacted.
Parents are asked to inform their school of any health conditions, for example Asthma, that require administration of prescribed medication and/or an individual health care plan.
Parents are required to complete and sign a permission form for the administration of daily prescribed medications to children while at school. Parents must provide a letter from their doctor stating child’s name, medication, dosage and times required. Medications must be in original packaging.
- Departmental policy prohibits unauthorised administration of medicines, including aspirin or paracetamol.
- Required medical forms are obtainable from the administration office.
- Self-administration of medicines by students is NOT allowed.
School staff are not required, under award conditions, to administer prescribed medication. Staff volunteer to care for students if all DET procedures are adhered to by parents.
