Our school were lucky enough to have two exchange students from Hong Kong. Sharon and Cherry introduced the students of 1/2 R to a traditional Hong Kong food item called Zongzi.
The students of 1/2 R wrote a recount of their cooking experience.
On Monday, 1/2R made Zongzi which is a Chinese food made of a special type of rice and dates. It is usually made with rice and meat.

We made it because last Wednesday was the Dragon boat festival.
Sharon and Cherry from Hong Kong helped us to make the Zongzi.
We folded baking paper and we placed rice and dates in it. Zongzi is usually made with
bamboo leaves but we didn't have any.
Then we folded the paper over the rice and the dates. That was the tricky part.
Next we tied string around it so it could stay together.
We took it to the canteen and left it in the pot to steam for three hours!
At the end of lunch it was ready to eat.
We all tried the Zongzi and most of us thought it was very delicious.
